This is the seasonal Lochlea Harvest Edition
The latest series of seasonal whiskies from Lochlea Distillery is in full swing. The third single malt in the four-part collection, the Harvest Edition Third Crop, has now been released. This whisky celebrates the time of year when the farm distillery gets to work harvesting the barley. This time, there’s double the reason to celebrate, as the distillery is also marking its anniversary.
The Lochlea Harvest Edition Third Crop whisky isn’t focused on the distillery’s anniversary, but rather on the harvest of 222 acres of Laureate barley. This barley is harvested in the fall and stored, ensuring that Lochlea can continue producing whisky for another year.
Lochlea Distillery History
Lochlea Distillery, located in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland, has a unique history that sets it apart from many other whisky producers. The distillery is situated on a working farm that was once the home of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns. It was here that Burns lived and worked in the late 18th century, and this rich agricultural heritage continues to influence Lochlea’s whisky production today.
Lochlea Distillery began its whisky journey in 2015, focusing on crafting high-quality single malt Scotch whisky using barley grown on its own farm. This farm-to-bottle approach ensures complete control over the production process, from the field to the finished product. The distillery officially released its first single malt in 2021, quickly gaining recognition for its commitment to traditional methods and innovative maturation techniques. Lochlea’s whiskies are celebrated for their depth of flavor, showcasing the influence of the farm’s terroir and the expertise of its distillers.
