In addition to beer, De Drentsche Schans also produces its own whisky. Both beer and whisky share malted barley as their basic ingredient, so the two products are quite closely related. The first barrels were filled at the end of February 2010 and bottled in April 2016. The whisky is marketed under the name “DenHool” and also has its own website. You can order the whisky through the webshop or at one of the sales points listed on the website. De Drentsche Schans does not sell whisky directly from its premises.
De Drentsche Schans is only open on Thursday evenings, starting at 7:30 PM. If you would like to view the venue at another time or pick up beer, please note: there is no ATM available.
Farming activities take up most of the workweek, making it impossible for individual visitors or small groups to visit the brewery/distillery. Moreover, the space is not set up to receive visitors and will not be operational during visits. However, if you would like an explanation about their whisky, including a tasting, this is a rare possibility in the winter months for groups of 15 to 40 people.
