Origin
The narrative of The Macallan Litha commences in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, where the brand’s sherry seasoned oak casks are meticulously crafted to precise specifications. The journey of these casks begins amidst the sun-soaked vineyards of Jerez de la Frontera, where the grapes that eventually transform into the sherry seasoning are cultivated. These casks embark on a voyage to The Macallan Estate in Scotland, where they are imbued with the essence of The Macallan’s new make spirit.
The Meaning of Litha
The name “Litha” draws inspiration from the solstice—a turning point observed by the ancient Celts. The brand poetically describes the solstice as a potent moment of convergence, sparking a transformative shift in the natural balance. This event, celebrated by diverse cultures across the ages, heralds longer days, fresh light, and rejuvenation.
The Macallan Litha Experience
Exuding a deep golden hue, the whisky’s aroma delights with notes of butterscotch, vanilla, and chocolate, intertwined with hints of citrus and tropical fruits. On the palate, the experience is reminiscent of vanilla ice cream adorned with a luscious berry compote, accented by toasted oak and a warming wood spice that harmoniously mingles with salted caramel and pecans. The medium finish is a symphony of fruit, vanilla, and oak.

Litha is elegantly presented in a vibrant box featuring a captivating illustration crafted by the acclaimed Chinese illustrator based in the United States, Sija Hong. This artwork captures an unadulterated moment of creation, embodying the initial encounter of two distinct forces.
Sija Hong’s artistic representation mirrors the union of Scotland and Spain through two distinct color palettes. The right side, depicted in blue hues, symbolizes Scotland, while the left side, awash in red tones, signifies Spain. Initial Release in China
With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 40%, The Macallan Litha will make its debut in August 2023, initially available in China.
