Tales of The Macallan Volume II Release
Embark on the journey of Alexander Reid, the visionary behind Macallan, through Volume II of the Tales of The Macallan series. Commemorating 200 years of this iconic establishment, the 73-year-old single-malt whisky reflects Reid’s essence with its exquisite blend of black cherries, ginger sponge, and dark chocolate orange, concluding with a lingering, smoky finish.
Limited to just 344 bottles, it is encased in a distinctive Lalique decanter and accompanied by an 800-page masterpiece illustrating the pioneer’s narrative. The Macallan’s lead whisky maker, Euan Kennedy, carefully selected the elixir for this release—a whisky distilled in 1949 and bottled in 2022. Encased in a meticulously crafted crystal decanter from longstanding collaborator Lalique, it remains hidden within an 800-page almanac crafted by renowned London-based bookbinders Shepherds, Sangorski & Sutcliffe, and Zaehnsdorf. Each chapter within the almanac unfolds the captivating tale of Reid, brought to life through the artistic prowess of British illustrator Andrew Davidson.
To enhance the experience, a complementary animated short film has been created, featuring select illustrations by Davidson, accompanied by an original musical composition from Scottish composer Craig Armstrong.
A rare offering, limited to just 344 decanters of Tales of The Macallan Volume II, will be released with a suggested price of US$89,000 / 89,000€ / £77,391. Starting from January 26, these exclusive decanters can be acquired at The Macallan Estate, Macallan Boutiques, and select premium retailers such as Harrods, Selfridges, The Whisky Shop, and Berry Bros. & Rudd.
