Talisker 30 2024 Release
On the Isle of Skye, a new version of an old annual whisky has been bottled—the Talisker 30 Year Old 2024 whisky. The Scottish distillery drew inspiration for this expression from Skye’s highest peak, the Cuillin Mountains. Ewan Gunn, senior ambassador for Diageo’s Single Malt Scotch whiskies, notes that the whisky embodies all the classic characteristics of the distillery, comparing its complexity to that of the Scottish mountains.
“With its sweet smoke and sharp pepper notes, this latest release is an elegant and complex expression of Talisker,” he says.
Even before Diageo officially unveiled the whisky, it had already won awards. Talisker secured a gold medal at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition for this drink.
History of Talisker Distillery
Talisker Whisky, one of Scotland’s most renowned single malts, hails from the rugged Isle of Skye. Founded in 1830 by the MacAskill brothers, the distillery has a storied history rooted in tradition and perseverance. Despite facing several challenges, including fires and ownership changes, Talisker has maintained its unique character, which reflects the maritime environment of its origin. Known for its distinctive smoky, peaty flavor with a hint of maritime salt, Talisker has become a symbol of Scottish whisky craftsmanship, cherished by connoisseurs around the world.
What is the Talisker 30 Year Old 2024 Single Malt Whisky?
The Talisker whisky has been aged for thirty years before being bottled at 49.6 percent alcohol by volume (ABV). This aging process has given the whisky the following tasting notes:
- Nose: Initially, freshly picked red apples and stone fruits, followed by aromatic wood spices, vanilla pods, white pepper, and dark chocolate.
- Palate: Warming smoke, a peppery heat, and a gentle brininess with layers of orchard fruit, bonfire, nuts, and fudge.
- Finish: Long, warm, and lingering with notes of toffee and seaweed.
The Talisker 30 Year Old 2024 single malt whisky is a limited release, with only 2,610 bottles produced. This makes it the rarest edition of the 30-year-old Talisker whisky to date. Each bottle is priced at £1,300 (just over €1,500). The whisky is available for purchase on malts.com and can be found at select retailers. Whether any Dutch liquor stores or specialty shops are among those carrying it has not been disclosed.
