Running an online platform has an environmental cost. Every byte of data transferred between our server, across networks, and your device requires energy. We take that seriously, and we’ve made deliberate choices to minimize our impact where we can, and compensate for what we can’t.
100% green servers
Choosing sustainable data infrastructure
This platform runs on infrastructure hosted by Hostinger, a provider that achieved 100% renewable energy share across all their data centers in 2024. That means the servers powering WannaWhisky run on 100% clean energy. Not as a marketing claim, but as a documented, reportable fact backed by their annual sustainability reports.

Contributing to carbon removal
Renewable energy reduces new emissions, but it doesn’t address the CO₂ that’s already in the atmosphere. That’s why we also contribute a portion of every transaction on WannaWhisky to carbon removal, thereby funding technologies that actively pull CO₂ out of the air and store it permanently.
We do this through Stripe Climate, a coalition of businesses that aggregates funding to accelerate next-generation carbon removal technologies. Every purchase you make on WannaWhisky automatically contributes, at no extra cost to you.

Most new technology is expensive at first. By funding carbon removal early, businesses like WannaWhisky help promising technologies get down the cost curve and scale faster. The projects we support through Stripe Climate include:
Climeworks uses renewable geothermal energy and waste heat to capture CO₂ directly from the air, then permanently stores it underground in basaltic rock formations. Climeworks will remove 322 tons of CO₂ on behalf of Stripe Climate businesses.

Charm Industrial converts biomass into bio-oil and injects it deep underground for permanent geologic storage — a novel pathway to durable carbon removal. In 2021, Charm removed 416 tons of CO₂ on behalf of Stripe Climate businesses.
