Processing of personal data
The processing of personal data is done in accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). WannaWhisky handles personal data carefully and processes it only for predetermined purposes.
Personal data that is processed
WannaWhisky processes personal data of users of the platform, visitors to the website and persons who contact WannaWhisky in other ways (in writing or digitally). This data is obtained directly from you, for example when you create an account, place an advertisement or contact us via the contact form, email or chat function.
WannaWhisky collects (depending on your role on the platform and verification status) the following personal data:
- First and last name
- Username and email address
- Phone number (for verification and contact)
- Address details (shipping and billing address)
- Date of birth (for age verification)
- IBAN or bank account number (only via Stripe and not visible to WannaWhisky)
- Identity data such as ID proof or Chamber of Commerce data (processed via Stripe for selling functionality)
- Invoice number and transaction data
- Other data that you actively provide, for example in communication with WannaWhisky or other users (such as via chat or when placing advertisements)
Please note: most sensitive data (such as bank details and identity verification) is not stored by WannaWhisky itself, but is processed directly by Stripe as an independent payment service provider.
Personal data of persons under 18 years of age
WannaWhisky is not directed at persons under 18 years of age and does not intend to collect data from minors. If you suspect that personal data of a minor has been collected without parental or guardian consent, please contact us at info@wannawhisky.com so that this data can be removed.
Special personal data
WannaWhisky does not process special personal data. Should it be necessary in exceptional cases to process such data, this will only be done with your express consent or when necessary for the performance of the agreement.
The purpose and basis for collecting personal data
WannaWhisky processes personal data only for clear and legitimate purposes. The data is used exclusively to the extent necessary to properly perform our services and to comply with legal obligations.
The main purposes are:
- Communication and contact: to answer questions, send notifications or provide support via email or chatbot.
- Performance of agreements: to manage accounts, carry out verification procedures, and facilitate transactions via Stripe.
- Financial processing: to process payments via Stripe, settle commissions and comply with accounting obligations.
- Newsletter or updates: only with your consent do we use your email address to keep you informed of updates. Unsubscribing is possible at any time.
- Improvement of services: such as based on user feedback, statistics or interactions with the website and chatbot.
WannaWhisky processes personal data on the basis of the following legal grounds from the GDPR:
- Performance of an agreement: for example to facilitate a transaction via the platform.
- Legal obligation: for example for storing payment data for administration.
- Consent: for example for sending newsletters or use of non-essential cookies.
- Legitimate interest: for example to prevent abuse or improve the platform.
WannaWhisky never processes more personal data than necessary for these purposes and does not retain it longer than necessary.
Withdrawal of consent
You have the right to withdraw consent for the processing of your personal data. Withdrawal of consent can be done by contacting us at info@wannawhisky.com. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal.
After receiving your request, we will delete the relevant data as soon as possible, unless there is a legal retention obligation (for example for invoices).
Who receives your personal data
WannaWhisky only shares your personal data with third parties when this is necessary for the performance of the agreement, use of the platform or to comply with legal obligations. Only information that is strictly necessary for the relevant purpose is shared.
This may include:
- Stripe (payment provider): for processing payments, ID verification, and payouts to sellers;
- Website hosting party: for technical management, storage and security of the platform environment;
- Email service provider: for sending notifications, transaction emails and (if applicable) newsletters;
- Analytics provider: for collecting statistical data about website use (such as Google Analytics or Matomo);
- Processors for customer service: such as an AI chat assistant that provides support for questions via the website.
WannaWhisky has concluded processing agreements with parties acting as processors. These agreements stipulate that these parties take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data and only process it on behalf of and according to instructions from WannaWhisky.
Data is not sold to third parties, and there is no transfer outside the EU/EEA unless this is necessary via a certified processor such as Stripe, which provides appropriate safeguards via the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
Sharing with third parties
WannaWhisky only shares your data with third parties if this is necessary for the performance of the agreement with you or to comply with a legal obligation.
Retention period
WannaWhisky does not retain your personal data longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as long as legally required. The following retention periods apply:
- Personal data required to comply with administrative and fiscal obligations (such as invoices) are retained for seven (7) years after full completion of the agreement;
- All other personal data is deleted no later than two (2) years after completion of the agreement, unless a longer retention period is legally required or justified (for example in case of a dispute).
Cookies
A cookie is a small file that is placed on your computer’s hard drive by the website when you visit the website. These cookies are necessary, among other things, to make the website function properly, improve it and make it more user-friendly.
WannaWhisky uses functional, analytical and necessary cookies. Below we explain which cookies are placed, what their purpose is and how long they remain active:
Functional cookies: these are necessary to make the website technically function properly and remain user-friendly.
- gp_easy_passthrough_session. Temporarily stores data to make certain form functions work properly (e.g. Easy Passthrough). Retention period: 1 hour.
- themify_popup_page_view. This cookie manages pop-ups on the website. Retention period: 1 day
Analytical cookies: these cookies provide insight into the use of the website. This allows WannaWhisky to improve the website and better tailor it to visitors.
- sbjs_current, sbjs_current_add, sbjs_first, sbjs_first_add, sbjs_session, sbjs_udata, sbjs_migrations. These cookies are from Sourcebuster and help to determine where visitors come from (e.g. via Google or social media). They store information about how visitors arrive at the website. Retention period: session (or 1 hour for sbjs_session)
Necessary cookies: these cookies are essential for the security and operation of the site and cannot be disabled.
- rc::a. Google reCAPTCHA cookie to distinguish bots from real users. Retention period: permanent
- rc::c. Google reCAPTCHA cookie, checks during the session whether the user is a bot. Retention period: session
If the analytical cookies are not fully privacy-friendly, consent is requested via a cookie notification during your first visit to the website.
Viewing, modifying or deleting data
Under the law, you have various rights regarding your personal data. These rights help you maintain control over your data and to verify that WannaWhisky complies with applicable rules.
You have the right to, among other things:
- Access and inspection: you have the right to know which personal data WannaWhisky processes about you.
- Correction and/or rectification: you may request to supplement or change your personal data if it is incorrect or incomplete.
- Restriction of processing: you have the right to restrict the processing of personal data if the personal data may be incorrect, the processing of the data is unlawful, the data is no longer needed and/or if you have objected to the processing of the data.
- Deletion: you have the right to deletion of your personal data, but please note that this is not always possible.
- Data portability: you have the right to receive your digital data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format. This is also called data portability. WannaWhisky will provide the data upon receipt of this request. This can only be digital data and data provided with your consent or necessary for the performance of the agreement.
- Automated decision-making: WannaWhisky does not use automated decision-making, but should this change, you may object to being subjected to this automated decision-making. After all, you have the right to human oversight in decisions.
- Storage of personal data: object to the storage of data. This is possible in two cases:
- due to a specific situation (special personal circumstances) or
- in the case of direct marketing.
Would you like to exercise one of these rights? Please contact us at info@wannawhisky.com. Your request will be answered as soon as possible but no later than within four (4) weeks.
To ensure that the request for access has been made by you and in the context of protecting your privacy, you are asked to send a copy of your identity document with the request.
In this copy, black out your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and citizen service number (BSN). If your request concerns a cookie, you are asked to send it along as well.
Complaints
Do you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data by WannaWhisky? Please first contact us at info@wannawhisky.com. If we cannot resolve it together, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
How personal data is secured
WannaWhisky takes the protection of your personal data seriously and takes appropriate technical and organizational measures to prevent abuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized modification.
Examples of these security measures include:
- The use of encrypted connections (TLS/SSL);
- Access restrictions based on authorization;
- Strong passwords and two-factor authentication where possible;
- Regular software updates and system maintenance;
- Periodic backups to prevent data loss and corruption.
These measures ensure a level of security appropriate to the nature of the data WannaWhisky processes.

Changes to the privacy policy
If this privacy statement changes, the updated privacy statement will be posted on the website. Changes take effect as soon as the new privacy statement is posted. Therefore, check the privacy statement regularly.
If necessary, WannaWhisky will inform you of a new privacy statement or ask you to agree to the new privacy statement.
